Living a healthy life,  is all about

balance

If we live in the Western World, we are faced with foods and lifestyle choices daily which play a part in how we feel. I like wine, I like coffee, I like chocolate (there I said it!), however I recognise that if I have too much of those things and not enough of the foods that nourish me, my body knows about it! My job, which I love by the way - is to help you understand what nutrients will support your body and make you feel better, whilst coaching you through the transition period. We take it one step at a time.

I've learnt to respect my body and appreciate what I put into it will have a direct impact on how I feel.

Let me help you achieve the balance your body needs.

WHY NUTRITION & HELPING PEOPLE FEEL BETTER IS WHAT I LOVE

My interest in food, or rather my realisation that what you eat has a direct impact on how healthy you are, was when I was 15. My dad had his first angina attack which prompted our whole family to change the way we ate. The 90's was the era of emerging low fat culture. Skimmed milk became the all the rage, eating eggs was a big no no and everything was labelled low fat! Little did people realise the low fat food was packed full of sugar!

Move forward to where we are now and the most current research will tell you that taking out good fats from your diet and essentially replacing it with sugar causes a whole host of health issues. Nutrients are key to living cells and functions in our bodies, and many of us who eat highly processed foods are malnourished. Lack of nutrients coupled with lifestyle behaviours and stress equals symptoms of ill health such as fatigue, skin issues, hormonal imbalances, weight gain, more stress - the list goes on.

I'm on a mission to help people gain a clearer understanding of their bodies and the importance of being well nourished through my 1-2-1 clinics, corporate and school talks and online courses. I would love to hear from you and help you achieve health and wellness.

I have to admit the experience with my dad and in my 20's being very 'body conscious', plus experiencing significant trauma, prompted a bad relationship with food, and consequently I suffered for years with various eating disorders. This led to issues with my hormones and I developed painful functional ovarian cysts, PCOS and severe PMS.

I started to rethink my nutrition in my 30's and became pregnant with my first child. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and I soon found out that nutrition played a role in his overall health outcome. I began my mission to make a difference to his life by learning as much as I could.

My second child has ASC (autism spectrum condition). Nutrition is also very important to her overall health and there are many studies linked to gut health and ASC. Having these life experiences around the power of nutrition led me to study nutritional therapy for 3 years.

I have a busy life, running my own business and having two children with additional needs, so I know how stressful and busy life can be. My own health has been impacted when I have ignored the signs or put myself last (which many of us mums do!). I help my clients recognise the signs and start to build healthier habits.

I am now supporting myself through peri-menopause and I have improved my symptoms significantly through nutrition and lifestyle management and help other women do the same through my clinic.

It's important to note I am not the food police! Don't be afraid, I won't bite and I'm very realistic with what will work for individual clients. There is not one size fits all with nutrition and I will take a detailed and personalised approach, taking everyone's individual circumstances into consideration. Eating healthily shouldn't feel like a chore - I will coach you through what you need to do throughout your programme.
